9 Year Old Gives Back To Veterans!
I am the nine-year-old CEO of Kid Time Enterprises, LLC. The motto of Kid Time Enterprises is “Future Leaders Can Change the World, One Idea at a Time.”
I am located in Halethorpe, Maryland. Through Kid Time Enterprises, I have two volunteer projects. The first one is Give Back to Veterans. I spread kindness by raising awareness about helping veterans in the community. I help homeless veterans and elderly veterans to get back on their feet. My second is Tyler’s #1000bookgiveaway. I have given away 11,000 free books so far.
I do my veteran project because veterans have served our country. I started it after I watched videos about veterans. Some videos were about their service, and others were about how many veterans were homeless. I took immediate action and told my mom that I wanted to help homeless veterans by building houses for them.
My mom explained that it was not in our budget to build houses, but we could come up with something else. After a few days, Mom and I co-founded Give Back to Veterans Day. I set a time to visit a retirement home where veterans live and another home for homeless veterans. I raised money to buy toiletries and grooming products.
My mom and I brought baskets and made Easter gifts to deliver to the homes. I found out later that the veterans were very happy about receiving the gifts. After doing more research, I learned about the Maryland Center for Veteran Education and Training, Inc. (MCVET), and I took a tour. This nonprofit helps a lot of veterans, so I committed to donating a computer so the veterans could research jobs, backpacks, clothes, and toiletries.
I changed the name of Give Back to Veterans Day to the Give Back to Veterans project, because I planned to do the project all year, not just one day. The project has grown, and I became MCVET’s superhero who raises money to pack what I call Hero Bags. These are filled with toiletries, clothes, underwear, t-shirts, kitchen items, shoes, socks, money, food cards, and whatever else veterans need. MCVET was able to receive 250 mattresses and pillows from Leesa Mattress and Pillows because the company picked me as a pint-sized change maker.
I even had an opportunity to talk to Steve Harvey on Little Big Shots about my project. I was awarded with a humanitarian award for season three. I now also go to other shelters and help even more veterans. My advice to children who are reading this is to keep going with whatever good you are trying to do. No matter what, don’t give up!
